Tip: I highly recommend making a reservation! I recently visited Bull & Barrel after hearing from several friends that it's a must-try, and I decided to switch up our usual date night routine from downtown Savannah. I'm glad I made a reservation, as the restaurant was quite busy! The modern decor was lovely, and our server was phenomenal--so attentive and friendly. We started with the complimentary garlic bread, which was absolutely delicious. I could have eaten an entire loaf! For my main course, I ordered the center cut filet ($52). I requested it medium, but it came out more medium-well. While the flavor was good, the steak was a bit salty and dry. The loaded mashed potatoes, however, were delightful and offered a generous portion. My husband chose the romano crusted chicken pasta dish. We were both surprised that it lacked a sauce, instead it had a dry cheese mixture in the pasta. For dessert, we enjoyed the vanilla bean crème brûlée, which was very tasty! So why 4 stars? I felt that the meal was overpriced for what it was. I've had much nicer steaks downtown for a lower price.
Passing through town and Yelp steered us to another awesome place again! We sat in the bar on a busy Friday night and had a couple of cocktails, 2 small plates, and split a gourmet salad. We started with deviled eggs and happy to see 3 whole eggs (6 halves) with 3 different toppings, pickle, bacon and pickled okra. Our bartender recommended the crab cakes and the appetizer was offered in single or double. The Autum salad has roasted beets, feta, nuts and a delicious orange vinaigrette. Finished with a huge bread pudding. Cocktails and food are on point, and really glad we found this place thanks to Yelp!
The staff is very nice. Restaurant is "fancy" and great for date night. The food is a hair pricey, but understandable for the style of restaurant. I ordered the salmon and it was cooked pretty good. Salad was nice and cold with a favorable dressing!
Bull Barrel is a place option to eat if you want something that has a calm and ambient atmosphere. The food here is great, it came out fast, but it was overly seasoned. Our server was really kind and kept checking up on us, and it felt like home. I recommend the ribeye, Caesar salad, and hand-cut fries! It is on the pricey side, but it is amazing and gives you an adventurous experience and vibe.
Great place! We go whenever we make it to Statesboro!!! Wonderful food great service and an awesome brunch as well. Strong recommend the smoke prime rib!! Amazing!!
An amazing dinner, better than some high end steakhouse meals we have had (definitely better than the last meal we had at Craftsteak in Vegas). Definitely try the deviled egg appetizer and the prime rib. The horseradish sauce is homemade and the steak was some of the best prime rib I have ever had, with a great smoked flavor. Our server Shianne was great and it looked like all the wait staff were having a great time serving customers. The only reason it did not get five out of five was the mashed potatoes were cold, but they were still delicious. Definitely reserve ahead, because they are always busy especially on the weekend. Will definitely come back as soon as we can, hopefully for brunch!
Statesboro, you are blessed to have this type of cuisine finally making its presence known. As a former student at GSU in the 90s and early 2000s, this is something I never thought I'd see here. Disregard the negative reviews here pouting about the lack of kale/spinach/vegetarian options. Read the sign, it's first and foremost a steakhouse. But this gem offers up one of the finer brunches you'll have in the area and perhaps most of South Georgia. The service here is impeccable. Our waiter was brilliant and also like 7 feet tall. The atmosphere, ambiance, service and food are all aligned here. Kudus to the owners for ensuring all small details are accounted for! The avocado toast appetizer we got was their unique spin on a booming item in the past few years. It was fantastic and the balsamic glaze was indeed the cherry on top. Our mimosas set the mood for the next course. My chicken and waffles, with the house made vanilla cream and spicy syrup, was fuckin nuts. Chicken was moist and waffle was tasty, and the other two ingredients just perfected it. My girlfriend and her daughter raved over theirs. The eggs benny was cooked perfectly. Seriously, this place is a treat. I can say for sure that I'm coming back here on my next visit to GSU. I LOVE when I get a chance to write a raving review!
Beautiful restaurant & bar area. Andrew took great care of us. The Stud was the best chicken biscuit Oce had in Georgia and the Burger was amazing!!
This was our first visit to the Bull & Barrel Steakhouse, and we were not disappointed. Both my wife and I took the waiter's recommendation and had the lamb. It was delicious and well presented. It came with a Sweet Potato Soufflé that was richly adorned with crushed pecans and was delicious! The House Salad, BTW, that preceded the entree was very good and very large. I should not have consumed it all, and it made a doggie bag necessary for half of my entree. With one glass of wine and a tip, the tab came to $150 for the two of us, so it's a bit pricy, but worth it.
